You Can Never Doubt Mike Tyson

What up Goobers! Happy Thirsty Thursdays! Way back in the day, Bobby Brown had a hit, "Every Little Step" Well...here's the re-made video, featuring Wayne Brady and the champ, Mike Tyson.

I was never a fan of Whose Line Is It Anyway, but my love for Wayne Brady came from the notorious Chappelle's Show skit. Ya'll know which one I am referring to. As for Tyson, this dude will do anything for a quick buck. While it might be sad, it's still hilarious.

What are we Coming To?

This, my friends, is the Footlong Cheeseburger from Carl's Jr. It's being introduced in California.

This is the most repulsive fast food sandwich since KFC's Double Down, which I had the displeasure of ingesting. The Double Down was just meat jammed into a small package (pause). I had to convince Mrs. Max not to eat one by explaining the feelings of regret and constricted breathing.

But this footlong cheeseburger is a load of meat and cheese stretched out. It looks like a Subway sandwich! I can't imagine what that would feel like afterwards. Would someone feel satisfied or proud that they ate one of these things? I don't know anyone who would enjoy that. But if there was a Carl's Jr. around Long Island, you know I'd have to try it out.

It looks like Footlong Fridays will never be the same.

Life on the Road: Shippensburg, PA

The life of a CW Post play-by-play man is pretty sweet. I swim in a healthy concoction of girls, cars and fancy jewelry on a regular basis. But sometimes it’s good to get away from the upscale grind of Brookville, New York.

That’s why road games are so enjoyable for me. I pack my bags; load up the car with equipment and a couple broadcast colleagues and just go. And with the CW Post Pioneers Football team playing in the PSAC (the ‘P’ stands for Pennsylvania), we really get away from it all.

This week’s road trip took us to Shippensburg, PA, two square miles of pure excitement. The best thing about going into the middle of nowhere is that you’ll usually have to explore to find your own fun. This time was no different.

We stayed in sort-of-nearby Carlisle, founded in 1751 by immigrants who farmed the Cumberland Valley. In our room, we hung out, waiting for Ryan Pettys to finish his phone interview with Jordan Lauterbach on our flagship station, 88.1 FM WCWP.

After a little relaxation, it was time to eat. Not knowing the layout of Central Pennsylvania, I turned to the trusty GPS for dining suggestions. Looking through the list I found the perfect cuisine for a few hungry boys: Barbeque. So I punched it in and away we went.

Around and around we went until we reached our destination. We looked to the right. There was a house. We looked to the left. There was a cornfield. So back to the GPS I went.

Hoss’s was our next destination. It sounded manly enough to satisfy a convoy of truck drivers. On our way, we passed the Sports Emporium, the perfect place for a few sports nuts.

We got to Hoss’s and ate. Buffet style salad & soup bar, ice cream & cookies, the works. Then our entrees came. I ate a Philly Cheesesteak, Ryan had a burger and Matt Soldano chomped on some goose pate with a rice pilaf.

After our meal and about 45 minutes of kicking it with the best waiter in all of PA, Ryan, we jetted to the Sports Emporium. There we were greeted with mini golf, batting cages and arcades. For the record, I won mini golf, despite walking into a spider web and being grossed out. I also tried the mechanical rock wall and played the 1997 classic ‘Top Skater.’ We played a few games of Pop-a-Shot, all won by Pettys, and collected our tickets.

Up at the counter, Matt, Ryan and I each got some stylish sunglasses. We went back to the hotel and took a cheesy Facebook mirror picture like a bunch of goobers.

We slept. We awoke. We hit the road again and went off to Shippensburg University. We proceeded to have our best broadcast to date, right along with the Pioneers getting their best win of the year.

Afterwards, we went back to Long Island to live the high life until next week.

A Close Shave for the Pioneers

Before the Pioneers did battle with Shippensburg last Saturday, I could pinpoint the team’s problems but could not reach the solutions. Eric Anderwkavich was turning the ball over left and right. Thomas Beverly did not look as explosive as he did in his freshman year. The talented defense was giving up over 200 yards rushing like it was the thing to do. And the special teams committed mistake after mistake.

Sure the solutions to those issues seem straightforward. A player could take time to look over reads, play under control or he could just play tougher. But after these issues came up in Week 2 against California, they were resurrected in Week 3’s game with Mercyhurst.

So how does a coach get a group of panicking, floundering players to reach these solutions?

He shaves.

Nope, I’m not joking. In my weekly sit down with Pioneers Head Coach Bryan Collins, I posed one of my slick, smile-cracking questions. Little did I know, I would get one of the most telling answers of the week.

‘I see you shaved your goatee. Is that superstitious?’ I asked following the two losses.

Collins explained, ‘I’ve never had facial hair in my life. I forgot who I was. So I cut it off and told the team to remember who we are.’

An identity issue! That’s the bridge to the solutions. And Collins played it perfectly.

Instead of verbally accosting the players, or putting them through longer practices, Collins was able to get the improvement without making the players feel like it was a punishment. With that mindset, the players focused on their true identity coming into the year. They were once again a favorite in the PSAC, rather than a letdown. And the changes were obvious.

Anderwkavich was able to lead the team effectively, accounting for three of the team’s four touchdowns. Thomas Beverly ripped off several impressive runs, including a 50-yard rumble and a 21-yard touchdown. The defense only allowed 136 rushing yards. And while Paul Stoltz missed a field goal, there were no blocked kicks, missed assignments or fumbles on special teams.

And as the game dwindled down, I said to Ryan Pettys and Matt Soldano in the hot Shippensburg broadcast booth, “That was a really good win. This team is back.”

The 31-14 win over the Red Raiders marked the Pioneers’ return to the dominant squad they originally thought they were. And it’s all because Coach Bryan Collins decided to take a Bic razor to his face. It’s little, spontaneous acts like that that will keep things fresh, from football teams, to jobs to relationships.

So I’ll give a tip of my fitted Yankees hat to Bryan Collins. I can’t wait for next week’s game.

See if the Pioneers can stay on the winning track. I’ll have the call along with Former Pioneers Receiver Ryan Pettys live from West Chester, PA on Saturday. Pregame begins at 1:30 with a 2:00pm kickoff on 88.1FM WCWP and wcwpsports.com.

What is it your giving me ? The clap ?

Where is it that I should even start with this video? Jeez what ever happened to children's TV shows ? I mean Katy Perry showing cleavage, four guys giving each other the clap ? Also what is the guy in the red doing from the :36 second mark until the 42 second mark, it just looks way too perverted.

Fireman Ed Gets Charged With Simple Assualt

This is one crazy world we live in, huh? We are now living in a world where people can sue a restaurant over spilled coffee, a surfer can sue another surfer for "taking his wave" (luckily that case was dismissed because they were unable to put a price on pain and suffering), and now Fireman Ed is being sued. Now you are probably wondering how a legend as beloved as Fireman Ed can be sued, and what could he possibly have done wrong. Well, he is being charged with simple assault. Now you are probably wondering what simple assault is, well I will tell you; it is simple violating some one's personal space or touching them without intent to injure them.
On August 16, 2010 at the New Meadowlands Stadium during the Jets, Giants preseason game with just over three minutes left in the first quarter this occurred:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqBvqdaJZ8Q

So first off, that Giant's fan, Christopher Black, is a disrespectful idiot. You do not mess with a sports ritual as sacred as Fireman Ed's J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS chant. Second off, the first time "Ed" pushed him away he should have taken the hint and went back to his seat. These charges are ridiculous, what are we in Kindergarten? Teacher, teacher, Ed pushed me. That is all this case is, luckily Ed's legal fees are being paid for by Peter Grandich, a self-proclaimed Jets and Giants fan who owns Trinity Financial Sports & Entertainment Management Co.

So kids, the moral of the story is don't touch Christopher or he's tellin'.

The Yankees split with these guys ?

What a bad way for the Yankees to lose these last two games, after winning the first two. The Yankees last three series are against the Blue Jays (3 games) and Red Sox (6 games), while the Rays face the Mariners, Orioles and Royals. The worst part is that the Yankees lost to a bunch of guys who dress like this....

Joe Madden, David Price and Evan Longoria along with the rest of the Rays.

This is pretty much how the Mets season went this year

Yes the Mets season was just like that girl trying to slide down the railing, now let me explain. The Mets started out alright and then got hot in May and June. There was debate around the city if they would make a playoff push and right when that talk started....BAM the Mets fell off, just like that girl. Last night the Mets were officially eliminated, and the only hope they have now is waiting till 2011.

Another National Anthem Fail...

A few days ago, the good man Max Caster posted the Butterbean/Pudzianowski fight up on the blog. On twitter, Jason Comack told us about the pre-bout anthem and how painful it was. I did some searching on Youtube and could not find it. Alas! Mr. Comack, comes through once again and sent it to me so I can share it with all my internet family...

Yeah...pretty 'effin terrible.  While we all have seen countless videos of national anthems that have epically failed, my favorite anthem moment ended positively.  It's the notorious "Teenage Girl Forgets Words So Mo Cheeks Is A Good Dude" version of The Star Spangled Banner...

Gotta love Mo on the harmony with this one.  It's also awesome how the entire arena chimes in, halfway through.

Sportswire tonight at 6

Alright homies tonight it will be Max and myself on the sportswire from 6-7. Last week we talked a lot about the Jets and Max stuffed his mouth with paper towels and read sentences on air.

Who knows what will happen tonight, but lots of talk about Yankees,Jets and Braylon Edwards.

-- Matt Saur

Braylon Edwards Cuffed for DWI

From the NY Post:

Jets' wide receiver Braylon Edwards was busted on a drunken driving charge early this morning, after cops pulled him over on the West Side and found he had double the legal limit of alcohol in his system, police said.

Edwards, 27, was arrested at 5:15 a.m. and charged with DWI, after cops pulled over his Range Rover at 34th Street and 12th Avenue for having overly-tinted windows. Police said they smelled alcohol and Edwards blew a 0.16 on a Breathalyzer, or double the state's legal limit of 0.08.

A passenger was with Edwards but it doesn't appear they were charged. Edwards is currently in police custody, and will be arraigned later today.

There's so much to say about this joker.

But the most important thing is that Braylon Edwards will most likely be suspended. I don't know how long, but he will be. That leaves the New York Jets offense -- the same offense that performed so effectively with Braylon playing a big part -- will be down another wide receiver.

Santonio Holmes is out until Week 5. David Clowney stinks. I love Jerricho Cotchery, but he can't make some of the plays Edwards can. Same for Dustin Keller.

The only thing we can hope for as Jets fans is that everybody rises to the occasion. With Edwards now out and Darrelle Revis out, every single player needs to play well above their level. That's going to be tough.

In conclusion, screw you, Braylon. How dare you ruin one of the most promising offensive performances I've seen from this group. Regardless, I can't wait for the offense to be back at ful tilt.

They Be Like, 'Braylon...'

Braylon Edwards' beard is huge. Its host, Braylon Edwards, came up huge today as well, with a touchdown and a 2-point conversion. Here's the touchdown, but check out the dance Braylon pulled in celebration:

Yep. He's doing The Dougie. This dance was made popular with us at WCWP when the American Internaional College football team -- the whole team -- was doing The Dougie in pregame. Here's the song:

Now teach me how to Dougie!

Newsday: Post falls to 1-2 with loss to Mercyhurst

From Newsday:

With an NCAA berth in Division II the stated goal, C.W. Post did not expect to start its football season with two losses in the first three games.

A meeting with non-conference Mercyhurst yesterday was supposed to assuage the wounds of a punishing loss to nationally ranked California (Pa.) a week ago.

"I guess you could say we almost looked past them,'' linebacker Sean Smith said after Mercyhurst stunned Post, 28-20. "We were ready for a 2-1 record. They came with some different formations that we weren't ready for, we didn't make plays we needed to, we missed some tackles. We didn't play a good game, we didn't play our game.''

Get the subscription, knuckleheads!

That quote from Sean Smith is pretty scary but makes sense given the outcome of the game. And I can understand where he's coming from. As a broadcaster, I expected CW post to go 2-1 and roll over the Lakers. If you listened to the game yesterday, you could tell that neither myself or Ryan Pettys could have predicted that type of game.

We'll be with the team this upcoming week in Shippensburg, PA to hopefully see the Pioneers move to .500 on the season.

Thanks to Jordan Lauterbach for bringing this article to my attention. You can read him here and here.

By the way, that's a picture of me calling Play-by-Play leaning out of the booth window.

Mariusz Pudzianowski vs. Butterbean

Sometimes I like to post MMA fights. Especially when the fights involve low-level celebrities and Max Caster cult favs. This one fits right into that bill.

Mariusz Pudzianowski is my favorite strongman from the "Met-Rx Strongman" competitions on ESPN 2. He's awesome. Butterbean is a man I remember for punchinng Johnny Knoxville in a sporting goods store. I can take him or leave him. Either way, here's their epic showdown on the tonight's KSW card:

...HAMMER FIST!

Update: Upon further review, Big Pudz and his bruh Krystian are in a band. It's pretty good.

C.W Post Pioneers vs California Vulcans 9/11/10 recap

The Pioneers reeled off a win in their first game off the 2010 season a, 20-11 victory over America International College, but week 2 would not be as easy.
The Pioneers faced the fourth ranked division two California (Pa.) Vulcans for the home opener at Hickox field. Post got off to a great start, when sophomore wide receiver Grayson Laurino caught a four yard pass from quarterback Erik Anderwkavich at 11:37 in the first quarter.

The Vulcans would tie the game up at seven with a two yard touchdown pass from Vulcans quarterback Josh Portis to tight end Blake Williamson. It looked as if the Pioneers were to win this game it would have to be in a shootout, both offenses looked sharp in the first quarter and the defenses struggled.

Post would take the lead on a two yard run from sophomore running back Thomas Beverly, but would not get the extra point because of a poor snap that forced holder R.J Kuhn to attempt a Tony Romo like run that was unsuccessful. The Pioneers would lead 13-7 with 5:11 remaining in the first, this would be the last time the Pioneers would have the lead. The Vulcans came right back and scored on a 36 yard pass from Josh Portis to third year wide out Derrick Jones.

At the end of the first quarter the Pioneers trailed 14-13, but the Vulcans ran away with the game in the second quarter scoring early on a safety, tackling Laurino in the end zone for two points and increasing their lead by three. The safety would be the turning point of the game, Post losing momentum and the Vulcans gaining it.

The Vulcans would score two more times in the second quarter. It started with a seven play, 59 yard drive that ended in an 18 yard run by California sophomore Lamont Smith and ended with a 32 yard field goal by Vulcan’s kicker Marc Domonkos. Smith could not be contained by the Pioneers defense running for 145 yards and three touchdowns.

The Vulcans had 26-13 lead going into half time. The Pioneers had looked sluggish towards the end of the second half but the break didn’t help them. The Vulcans would score again in the third and fourth quarters to make the score 40-13, a score that would stand when the game ended.

Although the C.W Post offense got off to a quick start in the first quarter, the offense disappeared over the next three . Anderwvich struggled throwing three interceptions and fumbling twice, while the Post running game was halted gaining only 148 yards, or just three more then Vulcan back Smith had for the entire game.
On the bright side Defensive player of the week Billy O’Connor had eight tackles, including one for a loss of two yards. Sophomore line backer Ty Booth lead the team with 11 tackles and Junior Ronnie Modik helped out with 10.

The Post Pioneers need to put this tough loss behind them and realize that this California team is ranked fourth in the nation. The first step to putting this loss behind them is this Saturday when Mercyhurst College comes to Hickox field. Coverage on 88.1 FM and wcwpsports.com begins at 12:30 PM, kick off will be at 1:00pm.

The New York Mets are NOW HIRING! for any and ALL positions

So, I know I haven't checked in..... In a while at least, but stumbling across Youtube videos, and friends facebook pages, like I do everyday, I couldn't help but find myself fascinated by this opportunity of a life-time. I know this info-resume commercial isn't real, but with the sorry state of affairs going on with the New York Mets (Currently 4th in the NL East; playing %500 baseball, and tied with the Marlins), somebody has to fill the much desired spot of being the Roger Cedeno of the ball club. For more info, here's the video.

Yanks looking up in standings due to poor managing

Jeter and the Yanks are looking up in the standings.

Heart breaking loss for the bombers last night but with the way manager Joe Girardi was working the bull pen you could see it coming. Why in the world would you have Chad Gaudin and Sergio Mitre in a game against the Rays who are just half a game behind ? These pitchers have been long relievers the entire season and now you are bringing them in to games that count. It just doesn't work that way, and it doesn't matter if you want to rest a few pitchers in the pen or the long relievers had thrown well. Instead I would have liked to see Joba or even Albaledejo in the game instead of Sergio and Chad, or even let Boone Logan face more then one batter.

The Yankees have now lost 7 out 8 and dropped into second place. Tonight they send Ivan Nova to the mound, and although he has had a few nice outings, he is still a rookie who wasn't in the rotation a few months ago. By losing game one it will have to be an uphill climb for the Yanks but lucky for them they still have six more games against these pesky Rays. But until then they will be looking up at Tampa, and hoping to regain first in the east to gain home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Peter Gabriel's Connection To WCWP

We post a ton of music entries on this site and on our Twitter. You have probably figured out that I'm a huge Drake and Kanye fan and get all giddy whenever they put out a new song. However, what you probably do not know, is I am also a sucker for Peter Gabriel, but more specifically, the wonder that is "Solsbury Hill". Yep, that is right.  One day Max Caster was riding shotgun in my car and we were listening to one of my mixes that we so frequently do. We were on our way to broadcast a Pioneers basketball double-header.  All of a sudden...BAM! The sweet sweet sounds of PG come on and S.D. Max is laughing uncontrollably. This is all a true story.  I am asked every time we hear the song to belt out the lyrics.  I oblige.  Many months later, "Solsbury Hill" found its way on the "Matt Soldano Mega-Mix" (made by Max) which is convenient for football road trips.

Now that you have the "inside-scoop", here is perhaps the most epic performance by any artist. Of course, it is good ol' Pete Gabriel...

A few things about this. The most obvious: the man is riding a bike for the majority of the song! There is absolutely no relevance for the bike but it makes the entire performance badass. Secondly, the bike cam. An excellent touch, just so you can get the perfect view of Gabriel's well trimmed goatee. Thirdly, sticking with the theme of facial hair. The back-up singer/guitarist/exuberant clapper's incredible mustache.  Need I say more?  Finally, the enthusiasm of the audience.  I cannot lie. I haven't been to a concert that does not fall under the rap genre. Therefore, I'm not exactly familiar with how people "react" or "behave" at a rock concert, especially that of Peter Gabriel's.  The simple yet effective synchronized jumping up and down move is superb.

So there you have it.  Now if we ever mention Peter Gabriel or Solsbury Hill on this site, Twitter, or on the shows, you can just recall the bike performance. With that being said, Max and myself (along with others) will be seeing Drake live at Radio City on September 29th.  If dude busts out a bike, aw damn....

The epitome of awkward.....

In honor of the Jay-Z/Eminem concert that is being held tonight at Yankee Stadium, while the Yankees are battling the Rays for first, here is an interview that was held on YES during a Yankees vs Tigers game. I had always wondered that Jay's response would be to when asked about " Making the Yankee hat more famous then a Yankee can".

Who would have ever guessed that Michael Kay would be more hood then Ken Singleton ? Or is it that Singleton is just whiter then Kay ? Either way Eminem made that interview very strange and awkward.

Preview of the Jay-Z Eminem Stage set up at Yankee Stadium

While the Yankees are on this tough road trip, the stage is being set for a memorable concert in the Bronx. No literally they are setting up the stage for the concert. This is the first concert to be held at the new Yankee Stadium. B.O.B is set to open for the two rap legends, but the biggest thing I want to know is does Jay-Z open or close with Empire state of mind ?

What was your Favorite Moment of Hard Knocks?

Well, football fans, it's that time of year again. The end of 'Hard Knocks' on HBO, which featured my beloved New York Jets this year. But I want to know what your favorite moment, scene or phrase was from this year's show. Was it the Rex Ryan topless scene that never was? Could it be Antonio Cromartie struggling to name all of his eight kids? Or maybe it was Mike Westhoff's constant badgering of his special teams players.

Whatever it is, holla back in the comments.

Here's our favorite moment, graciously sent to me by Matt Soldano:

Great stock music in this clip too.

So what was your favorite Hard Knocks moment this year?

Ron Artest Does Right

We all know Ron Artest had been working tirelessly to help restore his image that was damaged severely ever since the Malace in The Palace incident.  His stops in Sacramento and Houston were for the most part successful as Ron never had any major setbacks. When he was signed by the Lakers last off-season, everyone wondered how his ego would mesh with the egos of L.A.

Well an NBA Finals victory later, Artest is winning over mostly everyone around the NBA. However, what the Lakers forward is about to do, just might be the biggest and most highly praised act, we'll ever see from him.
Before Artest even gets to put on that championship ring, he has bigger and better plans.  He has decided to sell his the piece of jewelry in hopes of raising money for mental-health awareness. We all know Ron-Ron has had his troubles psychologically. How could we not? He was labeled as a loose cannon. A ticking time-bomb. A cancer to an organization.  Well, after thanking his own psychiatrist after the Game 7 win over Boston, Artest made it clear he had indeed gotten past his troubled past.

Now, Artest wants to let others have that same opportunity and views himself as a spokesperson for mental-health awareness. I honestly don't see this being a P.R. motivated move at all for Artest.  If anything, we are exposed to one of the more genuine and honest athletes in all of professional sports. Here's the story on NBA.Com (a great read at that).

In addition, here's a quote from Artest: "You work so hard to get a ring, and now you have a chance to help more people than just yourself, instead of just satisfying yourself. What's better than that? For me, this is very important."

Say Queensbridge to that!

UPDATE: Here is this gem I just found on Twitter:

If you're at home keeping score, that's Ron Artest getting pulled over for driving a Formula One Car on the streets of L.A. Okay, so maybe he still is a bit crazy...

Trending Topics are Silly

I was on Twitter tonight. You know, just minding my business, being a man of virtue and what not... And I come across the trending topic section of Twitter. Usually there are some hip hashmark things going around and it's cool. But today I see something disturbing.

'LFO' is a trending topic. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is LFO the pop band? The one that had one song in the 90's/early 2000's? Why? I strained my brain and came up with this. This is the only song of value LFO has ever created. And on this particular track from the Dr. Dolittle soundtrack, they got help by none other than Lil' Fame and Billy Danze... MOP!

LFO: Transcending generations...

EDIT: Just found out the guy from LFO died. I feel kind of bad now. Either way, it's a funny song.

So a text convo between Duke Falcon and I led to this poll. Which team is the favorite in the AL today. 'Today' was last week. And last week was glorious.

Yankees - 10 votes (71%)
Rays - 2 votes (14%)
Red Sox - 1 vote (7%)
Twins - 1 vote (7%)

Not surprisingly, the World Champion Yankees run away with the vote. They reign supreme. They will reign supreme. The only thing to make them better is if they restructure Darralle Revis' contract to have him play centerfield. Doesn't hurt when the Roaring Lion is raking.

Anyway, as they would say online, "Obvious poll is obvious." Here's one that isn't so obvious. With football just around the corner, I want to know who will win the AFC East? This is a tight, much debated race in this division.

So go ham on this one. It's in the panel over on the right.

How Marcus Thames got his nickname

During a Yankees game, you can always expect for station Twitter account (@WCWPSports) and myself (@NYMoot) to be talking about the Yanks but using our Yankee nicknames for each player. If you don't follow us already you should, and if you don't have a Twitter account you should make one now.

So this will be the first of a series of entries about the Yankees nicknames that Max and myself have come up with. So lets start with Marcus Thames.

Thames recently had a nice power burst and has become an important bat off the bench for his power. Thames became a favorite of mine with his walk off home run against the Red Sox earlier this season, following his walk off it was time for him to become a "true Yankee" and earn a nickname.

This clip right here is how Thames earned his nickname "The roaring lion" :

What the heck was that? Thames almost gets his by a pitch and roars and Papelbon oddly twitches. So that is how Marcus or Ja-Marcus as I call him sometimes got the nickname the roaring lion.

Richardson "Should Be" Returning to the Jets

From Pro Football Talk:

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Richardson could be re-signing as soon as this afternoon. (Actually, the source says that Richardson "should be" returning on Monday.)

We're in the process of figuring out why the Jets would need to cut Richardson for one day -- and why G.M. Mike Tannenbaum's comments about Richardson's release carried a strong whiff of finality: "Each season, there are difficult choices when constructing the 53-man roster and this year is no exception. We appreciate Tony's contributions and leadership over the past two seasons and have nothing but the highest respect for him as a person and as a player."

Many believed that the Jets were simply trying to avoid having to essentially guarantee Richardson's base salary of $855,000 by cutting him before Week One and bringing him back immediately thereafter. The truth simply could be that with an influx of three new players via waivers on Sunday the Jets had to scramble to decide which player(s) to cut. Any players with fewer than four years of service would have been subject to waivers. Since Richardson is a vested veteran, he became a free agent. Though other teams may have tried to sign him, no one had the ability to "claim" him against his will.

Well, this development makes this post a bit obsolete...

But anyway, good move by the Jets. If Tony Richardson comes back, I'll feel a little better about this New York offense. Once again, the offense is stacked. It's just a matter of whether they can put it together or not.

Revis Signs, War Over

From the NY Post:

After Rex Ryan traveled to South Florida on Saturday to meet with Darrelle Revis, the Jets and their All-Pro cornerback have agreed to terms on a new contract, the team announced Monday morning.

Terms for the deal were not disclosed, though FOXSports.com reported the deal was for seven years.

The agreement ends Revis’ 36-day holdout a week before the Jets begin their season next Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens.

“To my family, (agents Neil Schwartz & John Feinsod) I love u guys I’m comin home baby!!!” Revis wrote on his Twitter account early Monday morning. “Revis Island LET’S GO.”

Finally, Daddy's Home!!!!!

Let's get it, Jets fans. It's over. It's finally over!

Tony Richardson Cut, Jets Screw Up

From National Football Post:

The New York Jets claimed three players off waivers: offensive tackle Patrick Brown from the Minnesota Vikings, defensive tackle Marcus Dixon from the Dallas Cowboys and wide receiver Patrick Turner from the Miami Dolphins.

Besides waiving three-time Pro Bowl fullback Tony Richardson, the Jets cut wide receiver David Clowney and running back Chauncey Washington.

This is absolute insanity. With Rex Ryan's point of emphasis being offensive leadership, why would the Jets outright cut Tony Richardson, the team's best leader? Could the juxtaposition be any more apparent?

Rex says on Hard Knocks last week that T-Rich has earned a spot on the team. His character, his leadership and the fact that he can still play make him a main roster player. Rex Ryan said that! Mike Tannenbaum agreed! And now Richardson is without a job and the Jets are without a leader and starter.

And golly, I know John Connor is awesome. He really is incredible for a rookie. He's a guy that can knock anyone on your defense on his ass. But it's not like Richardson is a waste and it's not like Connor wasn't an incredible special teams player. Connor could've had the year to learn and be primarily a special teams guy. But I guess not.

And here's what bothers me the most. The Jets' backfield was a question mark to begin with. Shonn Greene was injury prone last year in a two-back situation. LaDanian Tomlinson can be hot or cold -- mostly cold. And Joe McKnight has vomited several times (literally and figuratively) in his short Jets career.

And now the only back who wasn't a mystery is gone. The Jets really could have just killed their offense right there. Let's hope these backs can pull together. It's either that, or Mark Sanchez becomes a 4,000 yard passer with a 2:1 TD/INT ratio. And I'm not positive in that happening.

I heard Rex was down in Florida meeting with Darrelle Revis. Rex better hope he brings Big Daddy back with him, or he's getting a hadouken right to the chest. And you'll be next, Tannenbaum.

Brian Wilson Just Got Cooler...

Here's a video that was passed along from everyone's childhood best friend Jason Comack. If you recall, Mr. Comack introduced me to the Nyjer Morgan fight literally minutes after it happened live.

San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson was on "Jim Rome is Burning" the other day.  The in-studio interview was in a word: epic.

Easily one of the funniest/greatest interviews I have ever seen. It even surpasses this classic Rome interview.

P.S. This post was our 1,300 entry for WCWP Sports.  We gets it in!

Arizona Cardinals release quarterback Matt Leinart

From Yahoo Sports: "The Arizona Cardinals have released Matt Leinart, parting ways with the former Heisman Trophy winner who was supposed to be the team’s franchise quarterback but couldn't’t escape the backup role.
The team made the announcement on Saturday, shortly before the Cardinals had to reach their 53-man roster limit."

I don't get it, they couldn't have traded him and tried to get a draft pick or something? Well I guess Leinart's days of partying in the spot light are gone, along with my Cardinals jersey of the former USC player. Yes before you ask, I do really have a Cardinals Leinart jersey. Maybe he can go back up Matt Hasselbeck for the Seahawks and be reunited with Pete Carroll.

Fight Breaks Out In the Stands At U.S. Open

WARNING: Audio, not safe for work!! I am getting the feeling this video is going unnoticed today by the general media and blog junkies. Here is a video from last night's Novak Djokovic/Philipp Petzschner match at Arthur Ashe stadium.  This is the breakdown of what happened:

A woman (let's say late 40s/early 50s) and her father were sitting watching the match and were being interrupted by a clearly intoxicated 20-something year old male.  The male was apparently cussin' up a storm and the father and daughter had enough.  They decided to take matters into their own hands...

Couple of things here. 1.) Where the hell was security? I know fights in the stands happen at sporting events but if you've ever been to a tennis match, you know the crowd volume is no where near that of a baseball or football game.  2.) The daughter got a SOLID slap in. However, the dude was UNFAZED by it. Well done. 3.) Who the hell is putting money on a second round U.S. Open match? Keep your cake for a Nadal/Federer final.

That's all from me.  I'll be at the Open Sunday night watching the Men's 3rd round and Women's 4th round matches.  Look out for a post with my reactions...

Now thats what I call garbage

Today I saw that they are coming out with another one of those Now (that's what I call music) Cd's. I can say that on a personal level I hate these Cd's and I don't see how anyone else can possibly like them unless your possibly a 12 year old girl. The songs that are on the CD are annoying mainstream hits that receive too much air play already. Turn on any hit music radio station and your guaranteed to hear half of these songs in one hour. In case you would like to see the "hits" that are on the most recent (Now 35) here is the play list :

1.'California Gurls' Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg
2.'Somebody to Love (Remix)' Justin Bieber featuring Usher
3.'Gettin' Over You' David Guetta and Chris Willis featuring Fergie and LMFAO
4.'Rock That Body' Black Eyed Peas
5.'Bulletproof' La Roux
6.'Alejandro' Lady Gaga
7.'Cooler Than Me' Mike Posner
8.'Billionaire' Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars
9.'Ridin' Solo' Jason DerĂ¼lo
10.'Impossible' Shontelle
11.'Pray for You' Jaron and the Long Road to Love
12.'This Afternoon' Nickelback
13.'Kissin' U' Miranda Cosgrove
14.'My First Kiss' 3OH!3 featuring Kesha
15.'Undo It' Carrie Underwood
16.'Lover, Lover' Jerrod Niemann
17.'Stronger' Jennette McCurdy
18.'Speakers' Days Difference
19.'Obsession' Sky Ferreira
20.'Shut the Front Door (Got My Girls)' Tiffany Dunn

2010 NFL Rookies Cypher

As you can tell by some of our posts here on the blog or tweets, Max and myself are big fans of hip-hop.  With that being said, we always appreciate when athletes get on the mic and spit a hot sixteen.  Some memorable vids (for good or for worse) are Malcolm Kelly, Shaq, and Delonte West.

If you recall last year, the 2009 NFL Rookies had a contest to see who had the best touchdown celebration.  Denver's Knowshon Moreno took the trophy home when he went lumberjack on the goal post.

This year....the 2010 Rooks tested their skills on the mic.  Dez Bryant, Gerald McCoy, even Jordan's man-crush, Jimmy Clausen all participated in the event.  Here's the vid

I declare the winner Chiefs' Dexter McCluster.  Any dude who can incorporate "dreads" into a verse while proudly rockin a set, is ahead of the rest of the competition in my book.

You tell me rugrats, who should be crowned champ?
