From RealGM:The Dolan family, which owns the Knicks and the Madison Square Garden entertainment operation, could sell its ownership in Cablevision, the country's fifth-largest cable company.
With the MSG unit in the process of being spun off, Cablevision becomes a more attractive takeover target.
Any sale of Cablevision would be at least a few years away.
With this possibility, could it finally mean Cablevision subscribers get the Tennis Channel? Or the NFL Network? Or maybe HDNet...
I don't know how many serious candidates are out there to buy Cablevision, but Mark Cuban always comes to mind. He, along with the Dolan's, are thought to have interest in buying the Mets with the Wilpon's in serious financial turmoil. Now that it looks like the Dolan's are looking to sell things, Cuban could use Cablevision to expand his media empire.
Rupert Murdoch could be another candidate. Maybe Eli Manning. He just got a lot of money...
And just a thought, but James Dolan looks a bit like Anthony De Franco, our friend here at WCWP and 3rd String Safety.
