Melky Cabrera Hits for the Cycle
Yankees Outfiedler Melky Cabrera hit for the cycle in today's against the Chicago White Sox. He put the first runs on the board with a 3-run homerun in the 2nd inning. He followed that up with a double in the 4th, a single in the 5th and barely reached safe on a triple in the 9th.
Cabrera's is the 5th cycle of the 2009 season. Orlando Hudson (LAD), Ian Kinsler (TEX) and Jason Kubel (MIN) all hit for the cycle within a span of 5 days in April. Michael Cuddyer (MIN) did it in May.
This was the first cycle by a Yankee since 1995.
The Yankees won the game 8-5.
Also, Derek Jeter's had 2 hits in the game, passing Babe Ruth on the all-time Yankees hit list. He now has 2,085 hits.
