Jon Niese Leaves Game with Leg Injury

Mets Starter Jon Niese left today's game against St. Louis with an injured right knee. He hurt it while planting after throwing a warm-up toss in the 2nd inning. He had previously made a play at first base where he did a split while reaching for a throw. He strained his hamstring on that play.

After the pitch, he fell to the ground. Niese wasn't able to put any pressure on his leg.

This comes just one day after 2nd Baseman Luis Castillo sprained his ankle walking down the dugout stairs.

------------

I just flipped out. I saw Niese being helped off the field and all I could say was "No way! No way did that just happen!" It's getting to be too much with the Mets. I don't see how Omar Minaya or Jerry Manuel could lose their jobs.
