Giants Sign Nicks

From the Star-Ledger:

Nine up, nine down. And no holdouts.

The Giants finished signing their rookie class on Saturday morning when then inked wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, their first-round pick, to a five-year contract, according to someone informed of the progress of negotiations. The person, who requested anonymity because financial terms were not to be discussed, said the total value of the contract is $12.5 million

Hakeem Nicks is going to be a very good receiver for the Giants for a very long time. All of his talent and freakish physical attributes aside, the Giants organization under Jerry Reese has a tendency to draft successfully. As much as I give Mike Tannenbaum love for finding Leon Washington in the 4th round and Kerry Rhodes in the 5th, Reese may very well be the best talent evaluator in the NFL right now.

The Giants are an organization with no problems brewing off the field. Expect it to stay that way. New York eventually cut Plaxico Burress, the one big troublemaker, and it'll still be a top team in the NFC. Antonio Pierce's dealings are relatively quiet, but expect the old middle linebacker to be replaced soon.

A well put together locker room and front office is an ideal place for Hakeem Nicks (or any other rookie) to flourish.
