From News Channel 5 in Nashville:Former Titans quarterback Steve McNair has been killed. Police said McNair suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville.
The incident happened near 2nd South & Lea Avenue. A female victim was also found dead.
According to Don Aaron with the Metro Nashville Police Department, no suspects have been taken into custody. Several people were being taken to police headquarters for questioning.
Just shocking news. I remember watching Steve McNair play with the Titans and Ravens and always thought of him as one of the great quarterbacks in the league. His passing, running and toughness made him one of my favorite players to watch.
It's ironic. Remember how he seemed almost invincible? How every week leading up to a game, McNair would be on the injury report, doubtful to play. But like clockwork, he was out there every week.
McNair is one of the greats who will hardly be remembered because of his low numbers. But 3 Pro Bowls, a league MVP and his will to play through anything puts this guy high in my book.
