The Nets lost more than 20 points and about five assists a game, not to mention some fans, when they traded Vince Carter to Orlando. This should make their supporters feel even better: The Nets think Yi Jianlian can help fill some of the void.
After Yi’s disappointing first season with the Nets, it was believed a top priority would be upgrading the power forward position. Nets president Rod Thorn said not so fast.
"Our feeling and our hope is that Yi will step into that position and play that position," Thorn said Friday. "He’s going to be given every chance now. He’s the guy now. He’s working really hard this summer. He’s gaining strength in his upper body. We feel he’s a guy that we’re going to be banking on at that spot."
"Don't be mad, Vince. I'm not that bad."
Well I think it's safe to say that Rod Thorn is sniffing glue. He trades Vince Carter for a group of players who collectively won't replicate VC's numbers. Now he believes that Yi Jianlian is the answer.
I don't know if he watched last season, but I suggest he does.
Oh lawd... I'm beginning to feel bad for the Nets fans.
