Some NBA Talk For Your Sunday

Here is some of the latest NBA chatter concerning the Finals, off-season, and Draft...

- The Cavs and Suns are discussing a trade for Shaquille O'Neal once again.  The teams talked near the deadline of the season about bringing the Diesel alongside the King but were obviously unable to agree.  Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic are mentioned to be among players going to Phoenix along with draft picks most likely.  Shaq is someone the Cavs desperately needed down the stretch of their season as no one in the state of Ohio could even come close to stopping Dwight Howard.

- Rafter Alston's friends and Stan Van Gundy do not like each other right now.  I'm not sure who Skip's friends are (Hot Sauce? Escalade?) but apparently they "were ready to fly in and wring Van Gundy's neck" after inexplicably benching Alston for the fourth quarter and overtime in Game 4.

- With Stephen Curry receiving a lot of buzz at the top of the draft (perhaps even as high as #3 to the Thunder) the Knicks might need to turn their attention to another point guard.  New York will work out Brandon Jennings tomorrow and there is a real possibility that if he is available on draft night, Donnie Walsh, will take him, a move that would be a nice one because of Jennings up and down style.

- A friend of Chris Bosh says that the Raptors All-Star has interest in playing for the Miami Heat when he tests free agency in 2010.  If true, this could entice Dwayne Wade to sign a long-term extension (which I believe he will do anyways) and the Heat really could build a successful team.  Chalmers, Wade, Beasley, Bosh, and (insert big man here) is a very nice starting line.

- Dwight Howard is doing the thing I hate most in sports: guaranteeing a victory.  "You want me to get up here and say the season is going to be over?  That's not what anybody should do or anybody should think.  I believe that we're going back to L.A."  While it's not the most outlandish guarantee, such as Rasheed Wallace or Mo Williams, I still do not understand the point of saying things as such.  The media knows that as a team you should feel your going to win the game, I just do not understand the reason to take these sort of things publicly.

- Sources are reporting that Trevor Ariza is going to triple or even quadruple his salary when he hits the free agent market on July 1st.  Ariza earned $2.9 million this season in which he averaged 9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.  In the playoffs Ariza is averaging 11 points, 4 rebounds and is shooting 48% from downtown.
