Sheff Out of Lineup Again

Tonight's Mets lineup against the Cardinals:

1. Cora SS
2. Castillo 2B
3. Wright 3B
4. Church RF
5. Tatis LF
6. F-Mart CF
7. Evans 1B
8. Schneider C
9. Nieve P

This will be Sheffield's 3rd straight game out of the Mets lineup... and the haters emerge.

He's too old. He was released by Detroit. He can't play the field every day. He's a DH at best. And so on and so forth...

My prediction: 15-Day DL. Sorry Mets fans but with the way the season has gone, how could I think any differently? He was set for an MRI on his knee a couple of weeks ago and never went. Another bang up job my the Mets' doctors.

On the bright side, Fernando Tatis is out of the cleanup spot. What was Jerry thinking??

Also, Newsday's David Lennon writes:

John Maine and Oliver Perez are warming up in the bullpen at Citi Field in preparation for throwing sessions that will determine the locations of their next outings. Manager Jerry Manuel is on his way out to have a look.

Nieve's start tonight will decide a lot when it comes to Perez and Maine. I'll keep an eye on this one tonight, although, SURPRISE!!!, it's raining here in NY. Why didn't Ebbets Field have a retractable roof...?

  1. max two things...

    1. Mets have said no DL for Sheff they gave him a cortisone shot for inflamed bursa sac so thats good news ( i guess....)

    2. Mets have also said Maine and Perez will get rehab starts over the weekend before coming back up
