From the Washington Post:
The celebration, if you can call it that, lasted about 10 seconds. In a Secaucus, N.J., television studio about 225 miles from Nationals Park, Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig strode to a podium and announced the name of a 20-year-old whose talent and price tag could, in some combination, either rescue a franchise or hold it hostage.
That's how Stephen Strasburg, officially, became the No. 1 draft pick of the Washington Nationals. In the lowest level of Nationals Park, roughly 20 team officials -- those who have followed Strasburg for years -- congregated in a conference room, surrounded by televisions, laptops, bottled water and a whiteboard detailing their draft day strategy.
This guy's going to be big time. Mets fans, watch out.
