Lakers Win Their 15th Championship

Well let's just say, I am extremely elated!  The Lakers took care of business on Sunday night and defeated the Orlando Magic 99-86 to win the NBA Finals in five games.  Kobe was Kobe scoring 30 points grabbing 6 boards, dishing out 5 assists, and also recording 4 blocks.  Pau Gasol had a double double with 14 points and 15 boards.  Lamar Odom also recorded a double double off the bench.

Now, the Kobe talk can finally be put to rest.  Winning the Finals MVP, it only proved that this was his team to lead and his team to bear responsibility of.  He did not make any excuses in the second round of the playoffs when the Houston Rockets took the Lakers all the way to seven games.  He willed the Lakers past the very talented and offensively sound Denver Nuggets. Bottom line, Kobe cemented his legacy in NBA history with this win.

So where does this leave him exactly?  First off, he's the best player on the planet right now. The shots he made during this series was just absolutely sick. No one has the competitive drive or will like Bryant.  Do I think he is better than Jordan? No. But after winning four championships and getting to six, after putting up the offensive numbers he has put up, one can certainly make a legitimate argument.

Now, I will go finish watching the celebrations and continue to process my checkout as I order my "Los Angeles Lakers 2009 Champions" T-Shirt online...
