Knicks Looking at Darko

ESPN's Marc Stein wrote:

The Grizzlies aren't just entertaining the idea of parting with the No. 2 overall pick in Thursday's draft. They've also engaged in advanced discussions with the Knicks that should put former No. 2 overall pick Darko Milicic in New York by week's end ... unless Memphis winds up needing Milicic's expiring contract in another draft-related trade.

Sources say that the proposed swap would send Milicic to the Knicks for swingman Quentin Richardson and cash. Milicic is scheduled to earn $7.5 million next season in the final year of a three-year deal he received from the Griz in 2007; Richardson has a player option for next season at $8.7 million.

Surprisingly, I'm not too sour on this deal. Do I want a guy who can't shoot, rebound, defend or run well? No. I don't want Darko Milicic either.

Quentin Richardson has been nothing but problems for New York. Get him out of here. He'll obviously accept his player option after the season unless he has a resurgence, which is highly unlikely.

Q would take valuable minutes away from Danilo Gallinari (ROOSTER!) and Wilson Chandler. Not again. Not this year.

Grab Milicic and kick him out after the season. If he gets any burn next season, it'd be so difficult to watch. But if the season has already been anointed as a throwaway, why the heck not?

  1. Max- Darko's strong points are his athleticism and passing ability, so he would fit pretty well with D'Antoni. Plus he's 7 ft tall...not sayin hes great or gonna turn it around, but he is just 24
