Knicks Fans May See Ewing's Doings Again

From Alan Hahn:

The Knicks have yet to finalize the roster for the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, but one name that we did hear to be among the players expected to be there is Patrick Ewing, Jr.

The 6-6 forward was the final cut by the Knicks at the end of training camp and spent the season with Reno of the D-League. He injured his knee in March and did not finish the season. The hope is he will be ready to play in time for the first game, which is July 14 against Hasheem Thabeet and the Grizzlies.

Funny. I was actually thinking about Jr. the other day and how he would fit in on the roster. I was about to column it up, but this will do.

Just to get the obvious out of the way, Ewing's energy and athleticism + D'Antoni offense = Awesome. But look at the depth chart (without Lee and Robinson):

C - Milicic, Curry
PF - Harrington, Jeffries, Hill
SF - Chandler, Gallinari
SG - Hughes, Douglas
PG - Duhon

Add Ewing onto the bench and it becomes exponentially more explosive. With trades on the horizon, he could be in the rotation as soon as this season. Larry Hughes and Jared Jeffries could be gone. Wilson Chandler is good trade bait. That's three spots at the 2 or 3 spot for Ewing to shine.

But if trades don't happen, he could become a fixture on the team for years.
