Jets Laying off Plax

From the Star-Ledger:

Though the Jets apparently no longer have eyes for Burress, they'll likely keep their options open regarding the acquisition of a veteran wide receiver. After all, it's only June. The Jets have been seeking a play-making wide receiver to replace Laveranues Coles.

"Consistent with our philosophy, we will continue to do our due diligence with any and all free agents that are available now and in the future," the Jets said in a statement Monday afternoon.

The Jets' interest in Burress has dissipated in the wake of their three-day veterans minicamp last week in which quarterback-turned-wide receiver Brad Smith and special teams ace Wallace Wright were impressive enough to ease the organization's concerns.

I love Brad Smith as much as the next guy, but he's not the answer. At least not yet. I hope the team became disinterested because of Plax's limboing status as an active player and his attitude, instead of them truly being satisfied with who they have.

Mark Sanchez can only do as well as the players he's surrounded with.
