From the Star-Ledger:Rodriguez's 16-game save streak ended last night when second baseman Luis Castillo dropped a flyball that allowed two runs to score. It was K-Rod's first blown save of the year.
Bruney, for one, didn't seem to mind. "Couldn't have happened to a better guy on the mound, either," Bruney told the Hunterdon County (N.J.) Democrat. "He's got a tired act."
Bruney went on to rip Rodriguez for his on-the-mound behavior.
"He gets what he deserves, man," he said. "I just don't like watching the guy pitch. I think it's embarrassing."
I guess Bruney is talking about the way Rodriguez gets animated on the mound. I get it. It's been an issue for a long time. Personally, I don't see any problem with showing emotion. Celebrating after a big third out isn't the worst thing that could happen. But if Bruney is going to call out Francisco Rodriguez for the things he does on the mound, why not say anything about Joba Chamberlain? You have to be fair with criticisms.
UPDATE: Here's Bruney's quote where he specifies why he dislikes Rodriguez:
I think that’s bad, but two years ago, when he lost the game…I don’t know if anybody saw it, I did. He was in Oakland and he was pitching for Anaheim, didn’t get a call, and so he was like complaining. The catcher threw it back and he just kind of did one of these (Bruney half-heartedly holds his arm out) and hit off his glove and bounced behind and the guy from third scored and they won the game.
K-Rod's response: “I Don’t Even Know Who That Guy Is.”
Bruney offers a lot on his injury and rehab here.
