Breaking: Burnett Suspended 6 Games

New York Yankees Pitcher AJ Burnett has been suspended 6 games by Major League Baseball. This comes after Burnett threw a pitch at the head of Texas Rangers Outfielder Nelson Cruz on Tuesday night. The pitch was thrown in retaliation for Texas Pitcher Vincente Padilla beaning Mark Teixeira twice.

Burnett has chosen to appeal the suspension. Until the appeals process occurs, AJ Burnett will continue to play.

UPDATE: 1050 ESPN is reporting that the suspension will likely be reduced with the appeal. But from what I'm hearing on the YES Network broadcast, it will only be taken down 1 game. So expect AJ Burnett to miss a start sometime down the road.
