Brandon Jennings has been the talk of pre-draft workouts with his impressive showings for numerous teams. Now, it's Jennings, the former Oak Hill turned Italy point guard, who is doing the talking. Here's what Jennings had to say about Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio and him being an overhyped prospect. Per ESPN.com:"Yes. Because he played in the Olympics, he's been playing pro-ball since he was like 14. So there it is right there, I can't wait to play him, though, in summer league. I'm just letting you know that now. I can't wait. Yeah, I think I'm a better player than he is. I just shoot the ball better than he can. The only thing I've seen him do sometimes is when he has a home-run pass or something like that. I think the dude is just all hype. I can't even front. I'm just going to be real with you guys."
Just what I have been waiting for, a good old rookie rivalry in the making. The next Bird v. Magic, Lebron v. Melo (sarcasm off....now). I do not think Jennings is the better overall player but he is certainly right about his shooting ability. Jennings is also a quicker player who might have the best handle in the draft. Regardless, with the way, Jennings has been playing of late, he has cemented himself into the lottery with a lot of teams having a need at the point guard position (Memphis, Sacramento, Minnesota, Golden State, New York, Toronto, Milwaukee, Indiana, and Phoenix). Both guys seem to be locks to be selected in the top ten of the draft.
Mock 4.0 comes out on June 16th so look out for that right here on the blog.
I just hope Jennings rocks the high-top in the NBA.
