This from MLB Trade Rumors:
According to Japan's Sports Hochi, via Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker, the Yankees had three scouts on hand to watch Yu Darvish pitch Friday night. Darvish didn't dominate, but he held the opposition to one earned run on four hits and fanned four batters.
Ugh. Another Japanese player who is expected to be a stud in the Majors. We've seen this before -- twice with New York. Do Hideki Irabu and Kei Igawa ring a bell?
There are only a couple of Japanese players I can think of who have flourished in the US. Ichiro Suzuki and Hideki Matsui. Neither of them are pitchers. You can throw Daisuke Matsuzaka in the mix, but he's only been in MLB for 2 years. After that is the plethora of Japanese players who find themselves to be mediocre and major league journeymen.
Don't get the hots for Darvish. That's all I'm saying.
