Thorn: Nets Will Take Best Available

From The NY Post:

The coveted prize, Oklahoma power forward Blake Griffin, is out of the Nets' realistic reach, unless you consider a 0.90 chance -- nine ping pong balls in 1,000 -- realistic.

The odds -- 90.41 percent -- say they will pick 11th on June 25 in the NBA draft, which lacks the talent and depth of last year's standout class. The Nets' desire is at power forward with a lesser need for a third point guard. But they'll go "best player available" route.

"I would take a very good point guard over a fair player at another position," team president Rod Thorn said, insisting "talent" trumps need at every turn.

New Jersey definately needs a small forward and a power forward. I can't imagine them drafting a point guard when they have Devin Harris and Keyon Dooling. Plus, Chris-Douglas Roberts is on the come up.

They just need somebody to take minutes away from Josh Boone, who is one of the worst professional players I've seen, and Sean Williams, who disappears more times than not. But don't tell him I said that. He might toss a laptop at my head.

Matt Soldano's Mock Draft 1.0 has the Nets taking Earl Clark, which makes a lot of sense.
