Jones to Rejoin Jets, Washington Negotiations Continue

Via Drew Rosenhaus' Twitter:

Thomas Jones will attend the Jets OTA next Wednesday.

Well he beat Leon...

Good news, I suppose, although I still believe that Leon Washington is more important to re-sign.

This is from the Star-Ledger:

The deep freeze between he Jets and running back Leon Washington continued to thaw on Monday when the agent for Washington spoke with team officials this afternoon in a face-to-face meeting at the club's Florham Park training complex, according to a person with knowledge of the discussions.

That person spoke on the condition of anonymity because he's not authorized to speak for either side.

Alvin Keels, the agent, has refused to returns several e-mails and phone calls for the past several days. The Jets have a policy of not publicly commenting on contract negotiations.

Washington, who is due to earn $535,000 in 2009 and is boycotting offseason workouts, was a no-show on Monday for the start of the second week of organized team activities. He had been attending workouts until last Monday when the Jets "lowballed" him with their initial offer.

Things seem to be progressing well.
