Surgery for Delgado

This from the NY Daily News:

Carlos Delgado will have surgery in New York on Tuesday, the Daily News has learned. He has a bone spur and labrum tear. Mets doctors will perform the surgery.

Also, Delgado has been said to be "out indefinitely". The initial condition (torn labrum) sounds similar to Alex Rodriguez's injury from earlier in the year. However, I'd expect C. Dell to be out for a longer period due to future repercussions stemming from this hip. Omar Minaya mentioned arthritis as a possibility.

So anticipate the 1st baseman to be anyone from Daniel Murphy, Jeremy Reed, Fernando Tatis and maybe even Gary Sheffield if they are desperate enough. Personally, I think Murphy at 1st is the best option. I like him but the pop fly is a problem for in leftfield.

This would be if the Amazin's don't make a trade. I've heard rumblings of Aubrey Huff of the Orioles, who is hitting very well. Huff has a .281BA, .355OBP, .500SLG, 7 HR and 33 RBI this season.

I've heard that the National's Nick Johnson is on the block as well. He's not doing quite as good as Huff and is injury prone. But he may be worth it just so he can be interviewed by his twin Chris Carlin.
