Piggybacking on Caster's post from earlier this afternoon, It appears that the Jets may be dead set on finding Mark Sanchez a better number one receiving option than Jerricho Cotchery.

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson said he wouldn't be opposed to the team making a play for former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress, according to the New York Daily News.
"We're going to look for talent where we can find it," Johnson said Saturday in an interview with the Daily News. "If a guy has committed a crime and is in jail, obviously we can't take him. We're committed to improving the team. They don't need my permission. They'll talk to me, obviously. Mike has to make the final choice. I'll weigh in, like I do frequently, but it's his decision. It's all based on whether the individual can help the team or not."
Asked if he'd veto such an acquisition, considering Burress' well-documented off-the-field problems, Johnson said, "Generally, no, I wouldn't do that."
Tannenbaum, the general manager, called Burress' agent before the draft, claiming he was performing "due diligence." On Friday, coach Rex Ryan wouldn't dismiss the possibility of pursuing the former Giants wide receiver, saying they will wait until his legal situation is resolved before deciding whether to make a move.

I still think that their is more to the Burress story than meets the eye. Of course, we won't know anything for sure until after the June 15th court date.
But the Edwards story is interesting, and it makes tons of sense. Edwards is clearly not a Mangini guy and is itching to leave Cleevland. Mangini is not above dealing with the Jets (as Mark Sanchez can tell you) and the Browns obviously want players that can make an immediate impact in return (ask Jerry Reese). Jones is that kind of player.
All things being equal, I would rather have Braylon Edwards. Sure he's coming off a down year, but he is six years younger then Burress and will not be facing a probable suspension from the league.
But I'll take either one
