It is being reported that Yankees Catcher Jorge Posada is headed to the 15-Day disabled list. Last night, he came up lame after running to second on a Melky Cabrera ground out in the bottom of the 6th.
The Yanks can call up Francisco Cervelli from AA Trenton, who is on the 40-Man Roster. In AAA, Kevin Cash is on the 7-Day DL, unfortunately. In 4 games, Cash is red hot -- 8 for 13 (.615) with 1 homer and 6 RBIs.
Even if Cash was healthy, Cervelli would be the best choice. He is only 23 and could be the heir apparent to Posada behind the dish.
Also, I believe Paul Lo Duca is unemployed. Maybe they'll give him a look.
Jose Molina... away!
UPDATE: The Yanks did call up Cervelli. If you remember, Cervelli is famous for getting obliterated in a collision at home plate with Elliot Johnson in a 2008 Spring Training game.
Oh, and be honest. Who almost had an aneurysm when Jose Molina got hit in the shoulder with that pitch last night? I sure did. When he went to the ground I thought that Nick Swisher would have to get back there.
