From The Newark Star-Ledger:
...Jorge Posada's back in the lineup, and says he's feeling strong after missing time with his hamstring injury. He said the time away also helped his surgically-repaired shoulder.
"I'm doing well," Posada said.
Catcher Kevin Cash was optioned out.
The lineup:
1. Jeter, SS
2. Damon, LF
3. Teixeira, 1B
4. Rodriguez, 3B
5. Cano, 2B
6. Posada, C
7. Matsui, DH
8. Swisher, RF
9. Gardner, CF
Moving Cash was the right thing to do. Although he had a very good series in Texas, Francisco Cervelli has been better. The Yankees risk losing Cash by designating him for assignment. I wouldn't be surprised if some team scoops up the veteran.
I have some concerns about Posada behind the dish as soon as he comes back. Playing catcher puts a lot of strain on the legs and could reaggrevate his injury. I would have had him DH today. But we'll see how he does.
In other catcher news, this from the Star-Ledger as well:
Also, Brian Schneider is at Citi Field, done with his rehab. No word on what the Mets intend to do with their catchers.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's there to pick up his pink slip...
