According to the all-knowing nbadraft.net, the Knicks have assured Stephen Curry that they will draft him if they are not picking somewhere around the top 3. Inside sources are claiming the Davidson guard says he entered the draft because of what he was told by New York.
Even though in my first mock draft, I had the Knicks taking Ty Lawson, this pick certainly wouldn't surprise or bother me. In my description of Curry (who I had going 13) I said that he could be selected as high as #8 to the Knicks. His role in Mike D'Antoni's offense will allow him to spread the floor and further excel his offensive skills. Although he is not the purest of point guards, D'Antoni can live with keeping Duhon on the roster to play that position.
Of course, the lottery is about a week and a half away so no picks are situated as of yet.
Some other Draft notes:
-The Phoenix Suns are said to be "enamored" with Syracuse point guard Johnny Flynn and there is no chance that if the team is picking at #14, they will let him slip by. They want him to be Steve Nash's successor. I believe I have that one.
-UCLA combo guard Jrue Holliday appears to be staying in the draft. Holliday has yet to hire an agent but reports are he will stay in the draft. Right now I have him at #10 but the more I am reading on him, teams are projecting him to be more of a mid-to-late first round guy.
- NBA Mock Draft 2.0 comes out the day after the lottery right here on the blog so make sure you stay tuned to that
