Following up on something Matt Soldano posted this weekend, SNY is reporting that the Jets have no interest in CB Pacman Jones. Since we know that the Jets are not above the "non denial, denial", I think its safe to say that the Pacman rumor was just that.
Its a good thing too. I want absolutly no part of Pacman Jones. This is a guy who the Dallas Cowboys couldn't handle. How do you expect rookie head coach Rex Ryan to handle him? He also doesn't fill a need. The Jet cornerback situation is set. Lito Sheppard and Dwight Lowery are more then enough to cover one side of the field. I don't know if you've heard, but thanks to a man named Derelle Revis, the Jets only need to concern themselves with one side of the field. This, on top of the fact that Pacman's skills have disapeared like money on a dance floor is enough to rightly take a pass on Mr. Jones.
However, this is not a good thing: Thomas Jones missed the first day of OTAs- round two. The jets have to move on this, and quick. Don't let the first camp for Rex and Mark Sanchez be marred by another Jet-vet contract dispute. It's not worth it. If drafting Shoon Green was supposed to be a message to Jones, it was obviously not recieved. I would get Jones out of here before he makes himself a camp distraction. If he's not buying in, then so be it. I would be all for bringing him back, but be careful of the age factor. He's already hit that scary number. 30. A long drawn out dispute with a 30 year old running back is just not worth it, especially when you have other options.
