According to the New York Daily News, New York Mets prized prospect Fernando Martinez has been called up to the major leagues and will make his major league debut in right field tonight against the Nationals. F-Mart needs to fill a roster spot because Jose Reyes and Ryan Church have been placed on the 15 day DL. Wilson Valdez, who is a utility infielder, was just acquired via trade for cash considerations will take up the other roster spot.
The 20 year old Martinez hit .291 with 8 home runs and 28 RBI's in 42 games in Buffalo this year.
Carlos Beltran will undergo an MRI on his ailing knee and will sit out tonight's game. He DH'd for the three games in Boston.
The lineup for tonight's game looks as such...
1. Angel Pagan - CF
2. Luis Castillo - 2B
3. David Wright - 3B
4. Gary Sheffield - LF
5. Fernando Tatis - 1B
6. Fernando Martinez - RF
7. Omir Santos - C
8. Ramon Martinez - SS
9. Livan Hernandez - P
I think the Nationals might have a better lineup than the Mets tonight...
Also of note, Oliver Perez starts tonight in Buffalo...all eyes will be on that.

Oh wow, Church too!? Damn...
ReplyDeleteAnd where is Murphy? Wouldn't it be a better idea to get Murphy at 1st and Tatis at Short, just to keep Ramon off the field?
Wait... don't tell me D. Murph is hurt too!
