Cimini: Sanchez to Start

From the NY Daily News:

I think Rex Ryan made it abundantly clear, without really saying so, that his plan is to make Sanchez the opening-day starter. That's hardly a revelation, considering his draft status, but it's noteworthy that Ryan admitted he has an idea of how he expects the QB competition to play out.

Immediately after the draft, I mentioned in a couple of places, like SNY's "Jets Nation," that Clemens is the favorite to be the opening-day starter. After being around minicamp, watching Sanchez and listening to Jets people, I'd like to amend that statement. Clemens has to be significantly better than Sanchez to win the job. If it's even, or if it's close, the only thing Clemens will get is a headset and a clipboard.

Oh, I see we're making obvious predictions now! Well here's a doosy. Tomorrow, I will be a day older...

Here's a bolder prediction that you can put on Rotoworld:

Brett Ratliff will be the opening day starter for the Cleveland Browns.

Just a hunch.

Either way, this is an interesting situation. Sanchez is clearly a strong player with a dominant personality, but will he be ready to start from the jump? There's only one way to find out...

There's more good stuff in Cimini's post, including more positives about Jamaal Westerman and some Plaxico Burress info.
