CDR on the Grind

If you've been following Chris Douglas-Roberts' Twitter page as closely as I have, then this will be no surprise to you. The New Jersey Nets' second-round selection in last years' draft has been in the gym working hard on his game.

He writes, "Tiring work out tonight. Shot a lot of 3's and made a lot of moves off the dribble." Later, he added "Another great one. This was a 3 point jumpie workout...and a ball handling workout. And a deadly conditioning drill @ the end!"

His focus seems unflappable when he tweets such things as "Mostly errybody eating bar-b-que and I'm locked in. Mastering this hustle." And "Nobody in the country is doing this type of work."

Douglas-Roberts spent most of his rookie year on the Nets bench, getting a few minutes here and there when healthy. But when Devin Harris went down with a shoulder injury, CDR filled in admirably. Along with Keyon Dooling, he solidified the back court and provided a much needed and unseen spark to the New Jersey offense. "Keyon really helped me this season man." he writes. "When I wasn't playing as much, he went out his way to help me. Love KD for that."

Through the last month of the season, Douglas-Roberts proved that he was a capable scorer from all areas on the floor. He set his career-high with 14 points against the New York Knicks on March 18th. He promptly broke that mark by going for 18 against the Miami Heat two days later. In that game, he knocked down a crucial 3-pointer late in the 4th quarter to put a surging Heat team away for good.

Only big things are to come for Chris Douglas-Roberts, but it seems that nobody is taking much notice. "I know YOU sleeping on me and I lovvve it!!! It almost turns me on. Swear."

--Also, it appears as if CDR shares the same opinion as our very own Matt Soldano when it comes to the Nets' draft.

"I like Earl Clark, but I don't know who we'll end up picking. There will be a lot of quality players @ 11 though." Douglas tweets in response to a fan.

Soldano has New Jersey taking the 6'10" Forward from Louisville in his Mock Draft.
