LAS VEGAS (AP)—Isiah Thomas says he has been doing OK, helping the New York Knicks prepare for the NBA draft, since police responded to an accidental overdose at his home last October.
That is the best news out of Knicks camp I've heard in a while. I know he liked Eric Gordon in the 2008 Draft and Gordon could have been a nice fit for New York. Obviously, Isiah was wrong about that one (ROOSTER!!!). But this is the same guy who drafted David Lee, Nate Robinson and Wilson Chandler; three of the Knicks' most important pieces going forward. He also selected two guys who are doing well for themselves in LA, in Mardy Collins and Trevor Ariza. The eye for young talent is there. Let the man do his thing.

With Danilo Gallinari out, presumably, for the rest of the season and Quentin Richardson playing worse than ever, the Knicks are in need of a shooter. Lucky for them, they have someone on the bench who can do that. His name: Demetris Nichols.
Nichols is a sharpshooter and used his skills to average 20.3 points in the D-League, along with 4.7 rebounds. He is a lean and spry 6'8", 215lbs, as compared to Quentin Richardson's hefty stature of 6'6", 235lbs. He is more of an athlete than Q-Rich right now. Richardson is a liability and cannot run effectively in Mike D'Antoni's system. His shot has been off and he has been unable to bring the ball into the paint.
Nichols gives the Knicks more potential for production than Quentin Richardson does. Give him a shot.
