ESPN is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys have released Veteran Wide Receiver Terrell Owens. Owens, a 6-time Pro Bowler, ended the 2008 season with 69 receptions for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns.
This brings up two questions. Number one: Does this release have anything to do with Owens' claim that Tony Romo, Jason Witten and Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett collaborate on plays for the Quarterback-Tight End duo? I wouldn't dispell this at all. Romo and Witten are good friends. It's natural that Romo would throw to his friend more than any other receiver. That close and obvious relationship most likely made Owens feel neglected in the offense; something you would not want to do to an ego like Terrell Owens'.
I feel that Wade Phillips and especially Jerry Jones would like to avoid a confrontation between Owens and Romo, in the media again. But when it all comes down to it, TO was the easiest out of the bunch to get rid of. He was making a lot of money in addition to being less than satisfied with some of his teammates.
And secondly, which team will pick him up? Will Owens continue his tour of the NFC East and head to the Giants, who desperately need a receiver, or Washington, who seems to be giving money away.
One thing is for sure. He is not going to the Jets. You don't want that personality around your young quarterback (coughRatliffcough) and your new coach. Things may seem rosy when he arrives, but he'll eventually become displeased one way or another.
If you look in 'The McCareins Files', I profiled a trade possibility for Terrell Owens. And even when he is now more accessible, he is not worth the trouble.

The NY Daily News passes along a "hot rumor" that the Browns have put Braylon Edwards on the trade block. This comes from Jets beat writer Rich Cimini, who may just be reading the tea leaves after an unsubstantiated rumor had Edwards going to the Giants for Mathias Kiwanuka.
Despite his drop-filled 2008, the Browns simply cannot afford to trade Edwards. They've already given up Kellen Winslow.
From Rotoworld
I wouldn't doubt this, as it looks like Eric Mangini is cleaning house in Cleveland. Obviously, the Giants are at the center of the rumors, but I would not mind seeing the Jets bid for this guy.

And Manny Ramirez's deal with the Dodgers is final.
Kiss that World Series trophy goodbye, Yankees fans.
