NCAA Tournament Blog - The Toe Is Fine

Before we get into how awesome UNC looked on Friday, here are the updated WCWP Pool Standings:

1. Jason Comack = 75 points
2. Nick Malone = 73 points
3. Jordan Lauterbach = 72 points
4. Janine = 71 points
5. Dan Cox = 69 points
6. Matt Soldano = 68 points
   Bob Soldano = 68 points
7. Anthony DeFranco = 66 points
   Mike Tramontozzi = 66 points
8. Jesse Lauterbach = 65 points
   Dave Soldano = 65 points

What a win by the North Carolina Tar Heels.  The #1 seed in the South ousted 4 seeded Gonzaga 98-77.  Ty Lawson was once again the main story line as he scored 19 points on 7 of 9 shooting, all while dishing out 9 assists and turning over the ball once.  And this is what I got from Mike T. all week..."You worried about that toe?"  "Roy said it's been regressing..."  I think we can put all of this hysteria to bed now that Lawson has come out and put together two brilliant performances.  Tyler Hansbrough led the game in scoring with 24 points.  Jeremy Pargo led the Zags in scoring with 16.  Carolina will now face Oklahoma in the Elite 8 after the Sooners cruised to a victory against Syracuse.

In the only respectable game of the evening #2 seeded Michigan State defeated #3 seeded Kansas 67-62.  In other words, there will be a new champ in college basketball this year. Sheron Collins for Kansas and Goran Suton for the Spartans each scored 20 points.  With the win, Michigan State will play top seed Louisville on Sunday, who looked mighty impressive with their 39 point victory against Anthony Defranco's beloved Arizona Wildcats.
