From Bleacher Report:
The New York Jets have been raiding the Ravens roster lately, picking up Jim Leohnard and Bart Scott and negotiating with Corey Ivey. Now, even more rumors are swirling that backup quarterback Troy Smith may soon become part of Gang Green.
That is all they offer on the situation.
I would much rather see Brett Ratliff take the starting job. He has the size and arm strength advantages over Smith. However, Smith has the mobility & play-making capabilities. Also, he was set to start under center, ahead of Joe Flacco, at the beginning of the season until he became ill.
Smith is a type of player the Jets have never had before and he could open up new options in Brian Schottenheimer's offense. And, above all, he would be a better option than Michael Vick.
This is interesting. Although, Smith is not the next Raven the Jets should get. Listen in as I pontificate on why the Jets need Free Agent Punter Sam Koch, on 'The Replacements' last Friday.
